Reporting to the Head of Technical Services for the Asia Library, the Korean Acquisitions Assistant performs acquisition-related activities for all formats of Korean language materials. As the acquisitions assistant, you will prepare orders and invoices for Korean-language materials. You will also catalog newly acquired Korean language printed materials and maintain records for added volumes and serials.

What You'll Do
Assist the Korean Studies Librarian in the acquisition of Korean language materials
Create brief MARC records in ALMA for Korean materials needed to process acquisitions
Prepare vendor invoices for payment
Handle Korean materials in need of binding and repair
Communicate with vendors to resolve any acquisitions related matters
Maintain monthly acquisitions and copy cataloging statistics for Korean materials
Perform copy cataloging for Korean materials
Verify call numbers and edit local holdings and item records
Process Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests by locating Korean articles in prints and online and identifying paginations
Manage the work of student assistants
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
Fluency in written and spoken Korean, including Hancha (Chinese characters)
Familiarity with the McCune-Reischauer Romanization system
Familiarity with national and international metadata standards and metadata schemas, including MARC, RDA, and other Library of Congress standards
